I have had another look and now see what the problem with the earlier changes I made is. I am confident I have fixed it this time. We plan a limited release of a new version of BurnInTest V5.3.1000 on Friday with this change. I will send you a copy.

    Sorry for the delay.

    Regards,
    Ian (PassMark)

    Hello All,

Sorry for being a bit pushy but have you had any time to look at this?
In my defence, I hope you will agree I do allow a fair amout of time between update requests.

Sorry, did speak too soon (I mis-read the three cycles).
Just failed, same error as before but at least I can confirm the BartPe detect code is OK!

    Any other ideas ?

    SteveA

    Hello Ian,

No need to apologise, don't want to sound cheesy but on a quality-cost-support ratio you provide an excellent product and support service.

I think you are on to this. Because we have just upgraded. I have merely slotted the new version into our existing procedures but with brand new bitcfg files. Therefore, I have always run BIT automatically to directly run a bitcfg file via a batch file. Under these conditions no BartPe message is displayed (nor would I want it to). When I run it manually the message indeed comes up. At present I am manually running a single test duty cycle of "CD-RW/DVD" at 100% and have completed 3 cycles wiyhout error. Not wishing to count my chickens before they're hatched I shall let this run for a couple of hours. If ok. I'll re-run via a bitcfg autoload.

Quck question, is there any way the coding does not check for BartPe under these circumstances?

    I'll keep you updated.
    Regards,
    SteveA

Sorry for the delay in responding.

Can you please confirm that you are running from BartPE as these files are only skipped in the CD test if you are running BartPE (and yes it does not matter where you run BurnInTest from in this case)?

I did test this so I wonder if the BartPE detection is not quite right for your system. Can you confirm that when you start any tests you see the following message:
Please note that only a subset of tests are supported under BartPE.
Please refer to the online documentation.

If not, then we have a problem with BurnInTest detecting BartPE and we'll create a debug version of BurnInTest to investigate.

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ian (PassMark)

BurnInTest already detects that it is running under BartPE - but all this is used for is to change some of the information/warning message text.

    A V5.1 key will work with V5.2.

    Ian

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
Are you indending ( or does it already do this) BurnIn Test to automatically detect that it is running under BartPe?
I will try it as soon as it is released. Will our V5.1 key also work for V5.2?

    Regards,
    SteveA

We will change BurnInTest V5.2 (due in the next few days) to skip the following CD files when run from BartPE:

    X:\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\DEFAULT
    X:\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SAM
    X:\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SECURITY
    X:\I386\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE

    Hello

We have recently updated to BurnIn Test V5.1 and our intial testing confirms that the CD tests now run successfully under XP when running bit from CD.

It still fails under BartPe. Here is a section of the log:
CD/DVD (X 3 2.800 Billion FAIL 15 Could not open file on CD/DVD for reading
    SERIOUS : 2007-01-31 21:34:12, CD/DVD, X: Could not open file on CD/DVD for reading

    SERIOUS : 2007-01-31 21:34:12, CD/DVD, Error opening file X:\I386\SYSTEM32\config\sam
    SERIOUS : 2007-01-31 21:34:12, CD/DVD, Error opening file X:\I386\SYSTEM32\config\security
    etc.

Have I missed something from your BartPe guide?
Can Bit be setup to skip these files.

    Regards,
    SteveA

CD test - Filenames with Multibyte characters

Sorry for the delay in responding.

The current version of BurnInTest does not support test CDs that contain Multi-byte characters in the filenames (e.g. Japanese filenames). Could you please check that your CD does not contain such files.

    Best regards,
    Ian

Hello David & thank you for your reply.

I have again checked with the demo version V4.0 Std Build 1019 and get " Error opening file D:\Programs\BurninTest\bit.exe"

Because the demo runs for 15min, I set only Cd-Rw\DVD on @ 100% and evey other test was off.
    Summary was " CD\DVD Cycle:2 Op's: 2104 million Error:2 Could not open file on CD\DVD for testing"

Please advise if I need to change any settings, and I am happy to test any patches etc.

    Regards,
    Steve A
