Thank you very much for the quick responses "Mr. passmark" . I'll open the case tonight and have a look at all the dust I just did a fresh install and used the latest drivers so I suppose this doesn't cause the problem, it must be related to the hardware (I think).

Thx again and keep on going with BurnInTest, I love it!

See this old post regarding the video memory corruption error.

As mentioned above, you can't conclude this is the cause of the shutdowns. This video memory problem might have been in the PC since day it was made.

Other things to check include, overheating, power supply, if the case if full of dust, if you have the latest device drivers, etc..

The CD/DVD Readers/Writers are broken so I knew the results were not going to be good for those. But I was hoping the rest would be ok
Today we noticed the pc sometimes shuts down while booting, so I think it must be the hardware. Can someone give me some detailed information based on the log-file?

    Thx!

What was the exact error message in the log?

There are many reasons that a PC might shut down, bad video ram (if that is what you are seeing) would not normally cause a shutdown.

Does the PC crash with a blue screen, or some other error?

2D Graphics Errors - What is this?

    Hi all,

One of my friends is having problems with his pc. I did a fresh Windows XP install because he had a few viruses
After the installation everything looked ok but the day after his pc shut down unexpected, it happened several times so something must be wrong. So I ran BurnInTest on the PC. All the tests were succesfull except for the 2D Graphics.
Can someone tell me what this means (excactly)? I asume it's his graphics card, and the log says something about the memory so I suppose it is the RAM-memory on his graphics card that is corrupt?
If this is true, can this be fixed or does he need to buy a need graphics card?

(Sorry for the spelling (or other) mistakes but I'm not very good at English)

    Grtz and thx in advance!
Working...
