There is a current issue when trying to boot into Porteus Linux using the PassMark Bootable USB and a monitor that uses a Displayport connection. We have had reports, and reproduced similar behaviour ourselves, of the boot process halting during the process or displaying a blank screen in these cases.
Switching to a VGA or DVI connection should solve the issues, as should using a Displayport to DVI converter, however using a Displayport to VGA converter does not seem to work.
