  • WinPE Problem with parallel port

    Hello communitiy,

    I have a problem with the parallel port on my WinPE. I read the manual ďUsing BurnInTest on a system with no Operating System WinPE 3.0 and WinPE 4.0ď and do the step by step instructions, everythingís works perfect, only the parallel port would not be recognized by the BurnInTest Software.

    Is it possible that it is a problem, because I have only the 30-days trail version for testing how it works?

    I use the Devcon utility from the Windows Driver Kit 7.1 because I read its works better by using Windows7, the utility from the link in the manual I tried it first but also donít work.

    At first I used it like the description in the manual. Donít work. Then I tried to but the drivers directly in the WinPE Image with the DISM /Add-Drivers command. Donít work. Now I attempt to start and install the port and drivers manually. But the software doesnít recognize the port. If I start Windows on the same PC from HDD the port will be detected.

    The Devcon install command failed but one more port I see in the roots\ports directory, see the file.

    Have somebody any idea whatís the problem is?

    Best regards

    I believe the parallel port is the PNP0400 that you can see in the list (not PNP0401), this may be a change due to differences in winPE versions since we wrote the guide.

    We had to make a similar change when we updated out bootable UFD to 64bit windows;

    "start parport"
    "install x:\windows\inf\msports.inf ACPI\PNP0400"
    "restart *PNP0400"

      Thank you for the help!

      Yes PNP0400 is the LPT port. But it works only with this command:

      "install x:\windows\inf\msports *PNP0400"

      Now its working perfectly!
