What kind of scale are passmark CPU results based on?

What are the Passmark CPU Mark based on? Did you decide a certain processor was worth say 5000 points then base everything on that? Is it logarithmic or linear?

I ask because I'm trying to normalize results. Over at Geekbench they "supposedly" base their results on the i7-6600U, saying that it has a value of 4000 (which it does not... indeed... have.) Then the scale is linear. Double the score = double the performance.

Thanks for those links, David. So my latest total score (all tests 7066) does seem rather good. Unfortunately I can't upload it as it's within the 5% band.
At the top end, 5% up or down is a lot on the same PC. I understand not every result can be uploaded, but I think 5% is way too high. I'd like 1%, but
can't really expect that. 2% or a max of 2.5% would be reasonable. Just IMO. Not a complaint.
