Comparing Xeon E3-1241 V3 and Intel Boxed Core I5-6600K

Hey everyone,

I'm a little confused about which processor to go for. With each processor I have a different build for both costing about the same. I was pumped about the Xeon E3-1241 V3 because according to PassMark it is benchmarking quite well. But then I used cpuboss.com to compare the 2 and the i5-6600k scored a lot faster.

So my question is which one is faster and which one would you recommend? Which one would keep me comfortable for 5 years without needing to upgrade? Below are the 2 links comparing the 2 and I will have below the 2 builds....Thanks

The Xeon will benchmark higher as it has hyper-threading enabled allowing it to have slightly more available processing power in multi threaded situations (4 cores/8 threads vs the 4 cores/4 threads of the I5).

As always it depends what you want the system for, if for gaming then your I5 option will be better as the GTX 970 is a more capable video card.

Thanks for the quick reply, I want it for gaming and multi-application processing, so maybe I'll just go for the i7 6700k
