memtest86 fails on test 1.

My friend have had problems with BSOD when he starts windows, cant get into the OS. Windows installer also fails.
Getting all kinds of error codes like memory_management and memory could not be read.

memtes86 aborts on test1 due to too many errors.

Does this mean that the memory stick is bad ? Or is it the memory in the cpu itself ?
Hope someone have answers so I can advise my friend on what to do.
