Went back in and played with it some more.
After making the changes noted in the quote above, I can boot into MemTest86 v6.
Thank you.
Now to try it on her PC.

Thanks Keith for your response.
As my dear old mother told me on many occasions:
"Shut your mouth and open your eyes!"
While you were answering my question I saw the post below about disabling CSM in the BIOS.
So, I went back into it and played with disabling CSM.
After saving the changes and rebooting I'm notified during POST that disabling CSM is not compatible with the VGA card. [An XFX Radeon HD 6770 with only 2 DVI ports + 1 HDMI and 1 Display port]
CSM is automatically reset to Enabled.
No matter how many times I Disable it it still gets Enabled.
Here are my choices:
1.
CSM -
Auto
Enabled
Disabled
If CSM is disabled I am given the following choices:
1.
Boot Device Control -
UEFI and Legacy OpROM [Set]
Legacy OpROM Only
UEFI Only
2.
Boot from Network Devices -
Legacy OpROM 1st [Set]
UEFI Driver 1st
Ignore
3.
Boot from Storage Devices -
Both Legacy OpROM 1st [Set]
Both UEFI 1st
Legacy OpROM 1st
UEFI Driver 1st
Ignore
4.
Boot from PCIe/PCI Expansion Devices -
Legacy OpROM 1st [Set]
UEFI Driver 1st
Advice on how to set the option would be appreciated.
I have played with the various setting but have not gotten any satisfaction.Last edited by voyager; Mar-18-2015, 12:53 AM.Leave a comment:

Your BIOS configurations may be set to boot in legacy mode. Go to the BIOS setup and check whether UEFI boot is enabled, and consequently Legacy Boot/BIOS Boot/CSM is disabled.Leave a comment:

MemTest86 v6 Question
My galfriend has been getting BSOD's occasionally on her PC.
The last 2 were yesterday then again today.
In looking for ways to diagnose the cause[s], running MemTest86 was one of the recommendations of what to try first.
I have d/l'd v6 Free and tried running it on my PC to check it out.
v6 defaults to v4.3.7.
Then, I ran it on her PC.
It also defaults to v4.3.7.
We both have:
ASUS P8Z77-V
Win7 x64 with updates to 3/15/2015.
Her's is equipped:
i5-3570k @3.4GHz [3.518GHz]
UEFI BIOS v1606
8GB DDR-3 @ 1372MHz
Mine is equipped:
i7-3770k @ 3.5GHz [3.605GHz]
UEFI BIOS v1708
16GB DDR-3 @ 1333MHz
Is there a reason MemTest86 will not run v6 on either of these PCs?Last edited by voyager; Mar-17-2015, 11:17 PM.Tags: None
