Use of the GPU benchmark data

I just wonder if there is any API or offline spreadsheet of the GPU benchmark result for developers?

I am a web developer and sometimes I need to deal with WebGL. So far there is no practical way to toggle effects based on the performance of the user's GPU. It will be handy if there is some benchmark data available and we can use the vender information to guess roughly what quality of the GPU are we dealing with.
