    I am pretty sure the problem wasw gigabyte software. I believe it is not updated to work with windows creator yet. Other people with gigabyte Mobo had similar problemas. I dont think the Intel Speed Shift Technology to enabled in the BIOS had such impact on the performance. Gigabyte software runs in the background of the OS, and their settings were probabily holding the pc performance back.

    I had one game with 15 fps, after I unistall the apps, now runs all in ultra 200 steady fps.

    Floating point result is now 3x higher. So a good result. Would have been interesting to make one configuration change at a time to see which one had the impact.

    I modified Intel Speed Shift Technology to enabled in the BIOS and looking around I found out some people were having problems with Gigabyte apps (since my MOBO is gigabyte and my GTX is Gigabyte). I unistall several of the apps, including ine called EasyTuningService. Then had another go on Passmark and...better results:

    Your are right, their results are very odd.

    Is there anything I can do to provide information that can help to understand and maybe solve the problem?

    I have looked at those UserBenchmark pages in the past and have problems making any sense out of them. I mean how to do you have 110% performance? And how do you have a "very good bench" but at the same time you are "Performing way below expectations".

    Anyway the page says for your CPU, Base clock 3.6 GHz, turbo 3.55 GHz, which doesn't seem right either. I don't know if that is a problem with your CPU or with their benchmark.

    Actually my cpu is i7 7700, not the K one.

    I did a check again, runt t he cpu test, checked cpu and it is running all cores about 4000ghz during all the tests, there is minor variaton, the lower being 3995ghz and the top 4100ghz. Voltage goes from 1.04 to 1.25 and all cores and threads are used.

    I donīt see how this could be throttled.

    How to I check the PCU ?

    can be drivers maybe, but what could it be ? I am using windows 10 x64 creators, maybe something is this update has a problem ?

    because for 3d mark I got:

    Fire Strike 1.1: 14778, that is 88t% better than all other results in their database (so the result is inside the interval from 14000 to 16000, where a lot of the i7 7700 gtx 1070 sambles are).

    pcmark 8 creative: 5441, 95% better than all results in the database

    pcmark 8 home: 4547, 96% better than all results in database

    Geekbench cpu: 4944 single-core and 15135 for multi-core (baseline for i7 7700 are 4066 and 16059)

    CPU-z : single 2006 and multi 8745 (baseline for cpu are 2030, 8917)

    Cinebench: 853 (baseline 874)

    I set the boost on bios to disable, so all cores run at 3.6ghz. Test again, lower results. So, it is not the cpu frequency...

    It still looks like the issue I linked to above. CPU appears to be throttled for floating point operations. Here is the link again.
    http://www.passmark.com/forum/perfor...int-math-score
    That problem was for the 6600K CPU. Coincidence that you have a 7700K? I don't know.

    Is this an isolated problem?
    At the moment we have 346 benchmark results for the i7-7700 CPU, and 5 of these have low floating point results.

    Does the problem effect the i7-7700K as well?
    At the moment we have 2468 benchmark results for the i7-7700K CPU, and 27 of these have low floating point results.

    So 1.0% - 1.5% of these CPUs have a problem. Around 2% of the 6600K had a problem.

    Speculation was that it was a damaged PCU unit in the CPU, but another user said a clean install of Windows fixed it (which implies a 3rd party software issue or bad device drivers).

    I read that 7th generation intel cpu can operate well till 72 C, they are usually hotter than the other generations. My ambient temperature is usually 27 C, 5 C above stardat ambiente temperature.

    Whem I run passmark on cpu and 2D teste, the cpu temp is 60 C actually, all fore cores running around 4000ghz, voltage 1.25v+-

    I took some samples inside passmark as baselines from other pcs with same rig : i7 7700, 1070, 16gb ram.

    For CPU test:

    CPU mark: 7725, less then everyone else (all of them), It should be near 11000;

    Interger Math : 15232, should be around 18000 or more;
    Floating Point Math: 2602, should be around 7700 or more;
    Prime Numbers: 21, should be around 30 or more;
    SSE: 492, this one is actually fine
    Compression: 15343 also fine
    Encryption: 2572 also fine
    Physics: 435, should be around 700
    Sorting: 8963 fine
    Single Threaded: 1901, should be around 2400

    For 2D test:

    2D mark: 754, should be around 1000

    Simple Vectors: 23 should be around 35
    Complex Vectors: 122, should be around 140
    Font and Text: 238, should be around 330
    Windows Interface: 71, should be around 130
    Image Filters: 1186 this one is fine
    Image Rendering: 1154 fine
    Direct 2D: 68 fine

    3D mark is very good 10898
    Memory mark is normal at 2521
    Disk mark is good at 4435

    I also read about some sort of AVX instructions that affect the new generation intel in float points and prime math. For exemple, to use Prime95 i should use version 26 and not 28, because 28 has this AVX thing.

    67C seems a bit hot, considering you aren't overclocked, have water cooling and the CPU tests are fairly short running.
    Do you have the baseline number, so that we can look at all the results.

    My mobo does not allow OC. CPU has turbo boost from 3.6 to 4.2. I do have enought power for it and cooling capacity. It should not do CPU throttling. During the cpu test it stays on all cores at 4000ghz and does not drop at all.

    Windows power settings are set to high performance.

    I assume you are overclocking the machine (but failed to mention it).

    So I assume the CPU is throttling during this test.

    Maybe this problem.

  • i7 7700 gtx 1070 very poor performance on cpu and 2D

    Hi,

    I was doing the benchmark for my new pc and my results for cpu and 2d are very bad compared to others. That does not seem right.

    My pc is:

    i7 7700
    Gtx 1070
    Mobo H270
    16Gb ram (2x 8gb)
    ssd 480gb v400
    Liquid cooler on CPU
    Display 1920 x 1080p 60hz
    Windows 10 x64 creators update

    When I run the test my temps are good, cpu reaches top 67 Celsius, my GTX reaches 61 Celsius and all my cores and threads are 100% during the test(4 cores, 8 threads).

    I did other benchmarks and got expected results. Why in Passmark is so bad ?

    Images attached.
