In case anyone else sees the same error.
We had a report from a customer that the DirectX10 3D benchmark test in PerformanceTest was crashing on their machine.
After investigation of the crash dump that the crash produced it was noted that the crash occurred in the DLL, snxhk64.dll which appears to be part of Avast anti-virus.
Disabling Avast solves the problem.
