A PassMark Rating of 4800 doesn't seem all that bad for the hardware listed.

The range of results for that combination of CPU and video card is around 3500 - 5600.

    Rig is intel core I7 4820K, 32GB memory DDR3 1866, SSD 128GB, NVidia GX770 2GB EVGA Superclock.

Out of the box practically. What is interesting is that I used the computer specs on passmark from high performance systems to be a rough guide to the rig I have now.

4800 passmark score for system bench. Benchmarks for individual components were really great. Even the SSD drive did better than the usual vanilla drives.

OK, building up the question, what the heck is going wrong here? It seems like a fascinating problem to me.

    Windows 8.1
