Maybe there is background activity on the drive? Maybe it is near full? Maybe the PCIe slot on the machine is only x2?

Extremely slow performance on Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB m2
I'm baffled here. First run I was at about 11,500 Disk Mark. Second run I'm at 12,929. Third run 13,655. It's like at the 50% mark and this is supposed to be one of the faster .m2 drives out there. I mean, on the comparison graph, the same drive (but 1TB size) scored 26,442.
It seems to be running at 1/2 speeed.
This is a Ryzen 7 laptop, 16GB ram @2,666 with a RTX 2060 mobile gpu.
Any help would be appreciated!
