I'm using the BurnInTest V5.1 Pro to cycle USB drives. In the live results window, there are 4 fields that are not clearly defined in the documentation on what their meanings are. The four are "Critical", "Serious", "Warning" and "Info". Does anyone have details on what these fields represent (eg, during cycling, if I see a count in the "serious" field - what exactly does this mean). Many thanks

The 4 error levels represent our classification of how serious an error is. This is defined in the file, BITErrorClassification.txt, in the BurnInTest directory. The classifications may be changed by the user (see Help).
Generally the groupings are:
- Critical: stops a test from running;
- Serious: an error (typically a device access or data validation error) has occurred that indicates a problem with the system component;
- Warning: An error occurred, but it may not be a hardware error, and may be a system configuration error, or the test may not be supported.
- Information: An event worth investigating has occurred.
A count in the Serious column means you have a problem. To investigate you should see what the error description is, change the menu option, View->Error by Category, so it is not selected. Also, turn Preferences->Logging on to get a log file of the error.
Once you have the error description, then you can look it up in the help file, Support and Copyright and FAQ-> Common Error Messages.

Ian
