OS : Windows XP SP3 HOME Edition x86 - English
BurnIn Version : BurnIn Test pro 5.3 build 1026
    Platform : INTEL Atom N270 FSB 533 / 945GSE / ICH7M (RAM 1GB)

    Test Item :

A few people have reported an issue like this. But we don't see it on any of our test hardware. Would it be possible to borrow, rent or buy one of these failing Atom based PC for internal testing to try and reproduce the problem?

For what it's worth, I have validated that an Intel D945GCLF mini-itx Atom motherboard tests fine With XP SP2.

If you are having the problem of BurnInTest v5.3 'disappearing' on XP SP3, then please send us an email and we will send you a debug version of BurnInTest. Please contact us at:
          http://www.passmark.com/support/index.htm

Note: Testing with V4.0 of BurnInTest may have worked in this case, simply because BurnInTest V4.0 does not exercise the system component in XP SP3 that causes the problem, and BurnInTest V5 may exercise this component.

          Regards,
          Ian

            BurnIn Test application disappears

I am running windows 2003 svr sp2 and i am having the same problem. The burn in test just disappears. I then decided to run the test using the log to save every 10 mins. I also turned on the trace.

            here is my results

As the crash only happens after 46 hours it will be hard to reproduce. Please send us an email and I will send you a debug version of BurnInTest. Please contact us at:

We have made a new build of 32-bit BurnInTest Pro, V5.3.1030, to try and address this problem. Could you please download this new build and let us know whether the problem has been resolved, or the behavior has changed.

The new build can be downloaded here:

                      Hi:
I ran burnin test with build 1030 and it disappeared. It ran about a day and a half.
I am running the test on a dell 2950 and it does not fail.
The one that is failing is a ROBO 8777VG2A industrial board. You can go to this site and get the spec. For this board.
                      http://www.portwell.com.tw/products/ipc_1.html
I would like to get the Burnin trace program to find out what the problem might be.

Yesterday (Friday 26th Sept) we found a in house machine on which the problem appeared. So we are now able to reproduce the problem now. Which will make fixing it much much easier.

We are running some tests over the week end, but indications are that build 1030 doesn't fix the problem. So there will need to be a 1031 release on Monday or Tuesday.

We are now testing 24x7 to try and work out where the problem is. At this stage it would seem to be a combination of the Standard memory test and the Disk test. As a short term work around, you could try using the RAM torture test (instead of the standard RAM test), with settings of 10 processes * 6% (not the default 10 * 9%). Please let me know if this avoids the problem.

                              Thanks,
                              Ian
