Error While Writting to Disk

[iTest]

I'm using Passmark v5.1 Pro 1014 on Windows XP. I'm testing with 2TB product. Running 3 drives and 2 failed after 20 hours:

Error message is:
Error while writting to disk and the error code is 1117.
I found out that 1117 is ERROR_IO_DEVICE1117 (0x45D) The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.


Any idea of what can be wrong ?

This is an old release and you should upgrade to V6, or at least V5.3.

But this is a low level error from the device driver. Hard to comment on the exact cause without some bus traces, and experiments to see our often it occurs, etc...

I would consider the drive or the drive controller to be suspect if I got this error. But there is also a chance it might be something else, e.g. a device driver bug, BIOS issue, power spike, etc..

Given that the errors occured at exactly the same time on both drives, I think the drives themselves are less likely to be at fault. More likely it is something external to the drive.
