  • 3D test fail when testing more than 1 window

I have a device that has 2 display chip and capable of displaying 4 monitors at the same time. When I run 3D test on single monitor setting, everything is fine. But if I set the 3D test to use more than 1 window, the following error message shows:

LOG NOTE: 2010-03-04 18:59:44, Status, PassMark BurnInTest V6.0 Pro 1018
LOG NOTE: 2010-03-04 18:59:44, Status, Main Tests started
    LOG NOTE: 2010-03-04 18:59:44, 3D Graphics, 3D test starting: Duty cycle = 50. Test on primary monitor (0). (x,y) = (250,200). WxH = 300x200.
    LOG NOTE: 2010-03-04 18:59:49, 3D Graphics, 3D test starting: Duty cycle = 50. Test on monitor number 1. (x,y) = (1370,350). WxH = 300x200.
LOG NOTE: 2010-03-04 18:59:49, 3D Graphics, Hardware Transform and Lighting is not supported. Only 1 3D test will run.
SERIOUS: 2010-03-04 18:59:49, 3D Graphics, Direct3D hardware accelerator function unavailable

Please tell me why this error happens, thanks!

    Testing system:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 build 2600 (32-bit),
    1 x Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz,
    1015MB RAM,
Intel Corporation 945GME/945GSE Embedded Graphics Chipset Function 0, S3 Graphics 2300E,
    29GB HDD,

My guess would be that the 2nd graphics chip doesn't support Directx 3D T&L

But if I test the 2nd chip use only 1 window, the test is OK.

And if I test 2 windows on the same monitor, the error also shows.

This error means that your graphics does not support Hardware Transform and Lighting. Hardware Transform and Lighting is required to run more than one 3D test Window.

This was changed in the following version of BurnInTest:
        Version 6.0 build 1008, 12/May/2009
The 3D test has been changed such that if Hardware Transform and Lighting is not supported by the Graphics card, then the 3D test will only run with 1 test Window, rather than up to 4 test Windows.

If you want to try an older version, try this:

FIX FOR DirectX 10 test hang

The fix for this is to go into the GeForce Control Panel and uncheck any monitor/TV except your primary monitor. Having two monitors checked (clone or extended) will cause the DirectX 10 test to hang up with a black screen.

          Windows 7 Pro x64
          GeForce GTX 970
