  • 3D test using proprietary nvidia/ati/etc drivers vs vesa driver

    Hi all,

I'm using burnintest for linux v2 under slax v6.1.2. What draws my attention is that the 3d demonstration, which is running during test, doesn't seem to speed up when I use the propietary ati HD3xxx GPU driver, comparing to the standard opensource driver. How can I make sure that the system is actually "burning" my GPU, using all its capabilities?
When I run glxgears using flgrx it runs 4 or 5 times faster comparing to the default slax open source driver.

3D graphics test seems to run the same way, regardless what hardwer driver is in use., which is not so convincing to me.

    Regards,
    Peter

Currently the 3D test is quite simple in its execution and is limited to a max frame rate, you should notice differences in the CPU usage when comparing different video drivers however.

We're planning to start adjusting the frame rate based on the duty cycle (rather than altering the time between cycles) and look at rendering a more complicated scene than is currently used.
