    Hi, Sir:

we met 3D Graphics windows stop and the result of BurIn test fail in our platfrom.
below is warning part of log.

    ~~
We selected the loading of 3D graphics from 50% -> 100%.
If do so, we can see the fail less than 1 hour.
Our platfrom is HR platfrom and Intel + nVIDIA (N12P-LP Optimus) platfrom.
Fail can't be reproduced in Intel (UMA) only unit.

    Our system configuration:
The software version ->V6.0 Pro 1011
The operating system version -> Windows 7 Ultimate Edition build 7600 (32-bit)
    1 x Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz [3260.3 MHz],2.9GB RAM,Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M, 298GB HDD, CD-RW/DVDRW,

Would you help to check the warning information first?
How can we upload the fully log to you?

    Thanks!!

You are using an old release of BurnInTest from around 18 months ago.

The current release is V6.0 build 1026

Can you see if the error occurs with the latest release. You should also check you have the latest video card device drivers.

      Hi, Sir:

      Thanks for the quick reply.
We will use the new version (1026) to check this issue again.
However, about this failture, is it olny because we used older version of BurnIn tool?
Any other possible that it may cause by HW?

      Thanks!!

The "No operations" warning generally means that the test in question (3D test in this case) has crashed or locked up. After which a watchdog timer triggers this error.

The cause could be hardware failure, device driver bugs, or bugs in our code, can't really be sure without investigation.

          Hi, Sir:

          Thanks for the reply.
We update to V1026 to run and fail still.
Excepte the "3D Graphics, No operations reported in timeout period" fail.
We got one more fail in V1026.

LOG NOTE: 2010-12-08 03:30:41, 3D test: render present failed (80070057) LOG NOTE: 2010-12-08 03:30:41, 3D test: render present failed (80070057) LOG NOTE: 2010-12-08 03:30:42, System Event, 20161 - Information, Event ID: 0x00000B7C, Source: Service Control Manager (Generated time: 2010-12-08 03:30:40) LOG NOTE: 2010-12-08 03:30:42, System Event, 20161 - Description: The Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service entered the stopped state.

How we can upload the log to you?
We need your help for this event.
          Thanks a lot!!

Yes send us the log if you like. Our contact details are here.
            http://www.passmark.com/about/contact_us.htm

There is a some chance we'll just come back and blame the video card device driver, or tell you we don't know the root cause. But we'll have a look. If you are not already doing so, you should turn on Level 2 logging for the log, so we get more details.

The 3D Graphics No operations error occurs when the 3D test frames are no longer being rendered. I would suspect that the graphics card device driver has blocked (hung) on a particular operation and the 3D test stopped running. I would:
                1) Check you have the latest graphics card device driver;
                2) Check you have the latest graphics card BIOS;
                3) Try different Graphics hardware (or motherboard) of the same type to determine if the problem is a 'one off' hardware fault.
                4) Try just the 3D test to determine if the problem is specific to the 3D test (and for example not a result of low memory caused by the memory test).

Edit in 2020: The above post is around 10 years old now, but there has been a new cluster of occurrences of this problem with the switch to DirectX12 in BurnInTest V9 on Win10. See this post for additional discussion.
