  • What exactly is an error in BIT Linux disk test?

    Dear Passmark,

What exactly is counted as an error in BIT Linux disk test? The DUT is a spinning hard disk. The test mode is default.

The help documentation mentions "an error detected in the coded pattern" (data overwrite). The v8.0 User's Guide mentions SMART data, but I don't see this option in the Linux version.

Please let me know how BIT determines errors. Is it possible to determine a seek or read error rate from BIT results? Thank you.

An error can be generated if the function used to access the disk fails (read, write, seek etc) or if the data read back from the disk does not match the expected data pattern.

Does BIT Linux provide access to SMART data?
