  • Production line test of WWAN usb modem

    Hi

I'm trying to set up a pruduction line test with BIT.
Most of the parts are straight forward and well documented (thank you for that)
What I can't find anything about, is WWAN or 3G usb modems.
Passmark discontinued the modem test, but USB modems are still here.
Are there any other ways to test these modems?
Anyone in the formum have any experinece with this?
Does Passmark have any thoughts here?

The old ModemTest software was only ever designed for use with dial up modems. So it would have done no good.

I think the easy solution is to use the network test built into BIT. The problem with this is that,

    A) You need to connect to a network to test the modem. This is hardly surprising, but it might be expensive, depending on the network charges.

    B) 3G and other wireless modems are typically not very reliable. So it can be hard to tell if a failure is a network failure, coverage problem or a modem failure.

      Thx for the quick response.

      a) Yes, this i how we do it today (without the BIT)

      b) We only need to test that all connections are there. Hence if I can see the carrier all is ok.

I'll dig into the network test to see if more questionmarks arise.
