Is there a way to detect CPU thermal throttling? In my tests if the CPU starts throttling due to high temperature the test has failed even if the the temperature is below the threshold.

Just check the CPU temperature and compare it to the spec for the CPU.
(some of the specs are now very complex with throttling due to a variety of conditions).
Some are permanently throttled in BIOS by design. (e.g. for lightweight laptops).

Thanks. It would be an nice feature to get this info directly from the system. Windows has performance counters for this right? Think I found my problem. I was only monitoring the average CPU temperature which was below the threshold but one core was above the threshold resulting in thermal throttling.Comment

Not that we are aware of.Windows has performance counters for this right?
As some laptops are permanently throttled in BIOS by design I am not sure what use a counter would be.Comment
