  • Intel N3350 platform Timed Out Message in 3D graphics Test

    Hi,

We conducted Burn In Test V9.0 (1014) on three N3350 boards and have the same situation: Timed Out Error in 3D graphics Test.

    Here's our workload settings:

Here's our event log in 3D graphics Test (Other test items passed, only 3D graphics failed)

The time out error didn't occur when we run 3D graphics test only.
Does it mean that DirectX 12 test in Burn In Test Software is beyond Intel N3350 capability? Or is there something we miss?

Hope to receive feedback soon. Many thanks.

We don't recommend running all tests at the same time at 100%.

    From the FAQ
What tests you select to run and the ideal duty cycle settings will vary depending on your testing requirements and the hardware in use. In most cases it is common sense. Some examples You want to test just your hard drive: Turn off all tests except the hard drive test and set the hard drive duty cycle to 100% You want to test just your main RAM: Turn off all tests except the RAM test and set the hard drive duty cycle both to 100% You want to generate maximum temperature: Different computers will have different (potentially) hot components. Typically these are the CPU and the video card. These generally use the most electrical power and thus generate the most heat. In this case set the CPU and GPGPU duty cycle to 100%. You want to test the whole system: Turn on all applicable tests (those that correspond to the hardware in the machine). Then adjust the duty cycle settings until the CPU load is around 95% to 99%. Generally you still want to have the hard drive at 100% duty cycle however as it is the slowest component. We recommend around 99% rather than 100%+ as we want to keep sufficient CPU time available for the disk to run at maximum speed.

Also using the latest release (build 1015 at the moment) might also help

      Thanks for David's reply.

We tried to go further on this issue and ran another Burn In Test (9.0 build 1015 version):

      1. Test Items: CPU, RAM, Video, 2D Graphics, 3D Graphics, Disks, Sound, Network, GPGPU (9 items)
      2. Duty Cycle: 100
      3. Different Results
(1)DirectX Version: Auto-->Fail to Complete the 3D Graphics Test ("Times out waiting for DirectX 12 test to complete"), Other 8 Test Items Passed.
(2)DirectX Version: 12-->Fail to Complete the 3D Graphics Test ("Times out waiting for DirectX 12 test to complete"), Other 8 Test Items Passed.
(3)DirectX Version: 9-->Complete the 3D Graphics Test Successfully, All 9 Test Items Passed.

What's the potential cause of this? Does anyone has the similar experience?

Here's our DirectX Diagnostic Tool information for your reference (We've got DX12 here):

This is a low end machine with limited RAM and limited video RAM. Our guess would be that the video card device driver doesn't perform well in situations of very high load and low system resources. The DX12 test uses a lot more resources than the older DX9 test.

Again, we would suggest you following our suggestions regarding the duty cycle settings.
