V8 is an old version that we no longer support.

You can find a release history for BurnInTest here. There have been 100s of changes.

But if it is a hardware failure, it can't be fixed with a software patch in the test application.

    Hi,
Right, to increase file size in setting cannot fix the problem.
Only 1% failure rate in our factory (7/760) for 4 hours test duration.
    We buy v8.1 burnintest.
Do you know if Passmark has updated patch for HDD test item ?
Are there any setting can be adjusted ?

Increasing the size of the test file will not solve the problem, assuming the problem is in fact a hardware fault with the drive.
(but if the fault was intermittent or semi random, you might be tricked into thinking you solved it, but additional testing might show it pops up again).

There is "File size" adjustment in Disk page of Test Preferences. Our engineer said if increase the "File size" from 1% to 5%. Maybe problem can be solved.
    Is this reasonable ?

Test details are in the User's Guide.

Probably the drive has a hardware fault.
Did you try replacing the drive?
