  • Windows RTC lag 6 seconds after executing BurnInTest 24 hours

    Sir,
I execute BurnInTest utility in our mother board with followings test items.

    Mother board information :
    AMD CPU : RX421BD
    DRAM : 4GB
    OS : Windows 7 64-bit

    BurnInTest Version : V8.0 (1041)
    Test duration : 24 hours
Test item : CPU, RAM, 2D, 3D, Disk, LAN and sound.
    Test Load is 100%
*No connect LAN cable to Ethernet for RTC synchronization.

Problem is that Windows RTC time become lag 6 seconds after executing BurnInTest 24 hours done. Re-boot mother board and go to BIOS setup to check BIOS RTC time, the RTC time in BIOS is no problem. It looks Windows RTC time will be affected when system in heavy load. Is this OS situation reasonable ?

We had a similar report 8 years ago.

There is some discussion on the issue here,
    http://www.passmark.com/forum/showth...s-Burn-in-Test

It isn't so serious in a modern O/S which is connected to the internet as there is automatic time syncing.

      Hi,
      Thanks for your reply.
I understand that clock tick in Windows operating system could be drifted during were havily loaded.
However I try to find any Microsoft document by google, which describe about clock tick priority in OS kerenl processing as the issue we met. Because our customer want us provide some document in order to close this issue in DQA report.
Does PassMark have document for this kind of request ?

      thanks
      Rick

No we don't have anything that documents the internals of the Window's clock.
