How does the netorking test work in BIT LINUX? It doesn't actually send anything out the network cables so what would it be testing? Connectivity from the motherboard to the NIC?

BIT Linux> how do the network tests work?

The default settings of the network test is only testing the local ethernet loopback (IP address 127.0.0.1), hence no packets actually leave the NIC. From the Network Preferences, you can specify up to 4 different external IP addresses (or hostname) for the network test.
The network test tests your networking hardware and software by sending pings to those addresses. Refer to the help file (page 10-11) for a more thorough description.SK
