  • Burn-in v5.2 test in Vista - Network and Video Playback Error

Two Error Descriptions occured when we ran Passmark Burn-in V5.2 stress test.
Error1: Network test reported "Timeout waiting for packet" error or "Bad Packet Checksum".
Error2: Video PlayBack test reported "Video Playback is dropping samples" (With on-die VGA only)
    Test Procedure:
    1. Launch BIT v5.2
    2. From "Configuration" -> "Test Preferences" -> "Video Playback" to select Video Playback file.
    3. Other Test Preference keep default setting.
    4. From "Configuration" -> "Test Duty Cycles" to select below items:
CPU Math, CD-RW/DVD, CPU SIMD, RAM, Video, 2D Graphics, 3D Graphics, Disks, Sound, Network, and change all Duty Cycle to 100.
    5. Set the stress tests run forever.
    6. Run with burn-in test fixtures.
Then BIT will report the two errors. We got the same error in the different platform. Intel LAN Chip / Marvell LAN / Broadcom LAN..., Intel 946GZ, G965, Q965, ATI RS415 on-die VGA... and so on.
    Any advise

I would suggest that the errors are real. Under heavy load it is normal the slow video cards drop frames and you start to get network timeouts. You could trying increasing the timeout period.

Network timeouts can also result from lost packets if the LAN you are using is busy.
