    Q9550 or Q9650

I just sold my Q6600 today.

And I need to make fast decision if Q9550 will work just fine or Q9650 is much better.

P.S. I need it for rendering.

There isn't much different between these chips.

If you really want better performance get the new Core i7. (But you'll also need a new X58 motherboard and maybe new RAM, if you don't already have DDR3).

I don't want to replace my mobo...

On the High-End CPU chart, the Q9550 has a HIGHER benchmark number than the Q9650.

      Anybody know why??

There are currently about 60 samples for the 9550 whilst there are only 2 for the 9650. The charts are made up of a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit results where the 64-bit results are usually a bit higher. I checked the database and both of the 9650 results are 32-bit whereas the 9550 results are a mix, this is why it is scoring slightly higher in the charts.
