so I'm wondering about this message in my disc check.
    it's a 80g hd

    Raw Read Error Rate: 65246888:OK :70 :64 :6 :25 Nov 2009 15:02:28

this hard-drive been acting up ever since i got my computer 4 years ago
every few months it'll bug out and refuse to find the hard-drive for a day or so, then work perfectly for like 5 months without so much as a blue screen.
I recently reformatted my computer to get rid of a nasty Trojan, I also seem to have a huge red bar in my disk defragmenter even thou i just have 30gs being used now

I would definitely start keeping good backups. The predicted failure date is unlikely to be accurate, especially if you only have a small amount of trend data. It is just a very rough guide.

A new hard drives are cheap and will be faster than your old one. If you preemptively replace it depends on how much your use your PC.

If it was my PC I would replace the entire machine. But I use my PC a lot.
