  • Antivirus Performance report Feb 2010

Very nice, some useful info for sure. This information should eliminate several AV brands no matter how good the protection is. The only thing missing that I can see is Avast 5. It came out within days of your report. Avast 4 Home was a very old product (talking years)and it was nice to see it was not a hog. I would guess most of the 1 million + Avast users have switched to Avast 5 or are contemplating doing so soon. Could you please test Avast 5 Free, Pro and AIS.

    Thanks
    Bill

The plan at the moment is to start product testing on a new edition of the report starting around July 2010. There should be a whole bnuch of new products out by then.

That is good news. One thing I noticed in the last test was Vista 32 bit was used for the OS. For the tests to be meaningful to users of other OS's the tests would need to be run on all common OS's on the same hardware. This would be a huge undertaking. Since Vista and Windows 7 are very similar it might be OK to only test on Windows 7 32/64 bit and XP 32 bit sp3.
