  • Problem with HDD

    Hey

I did the benchmark, and the Disk benchmark says its 34,5 points.
With read and write under 4 and random seek under 2.

I have samsung hd502hj which i checked on this site actually gives 874 points.

I checked with Seatools (Samsung diagnostic utility) and no problems, also did defrag but the result remains the same.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

4 MB/sec read and write speeds is pretty bad.

Do you have any disk activity running in the background?
Are you sure you actually tested your main hard drive, and not for example a USB drive?
Does the PC feel slow in normal use. e.g. slow to open applications?

I checked with Seatools (Samsung diagnostic utility)
I think you are confused. Seatools, as the name suggests, is from Seagate.

Yes 4 MB/sec isn't even on the low charts.

I have done the test 3 times, without anything else resource consuming running and on the hard drive, "Disk mark".

I have noticed that copying and video decrypting (cd/dvd reader is at it's normal) are much slower. Also boot up time, some programs start longer etc.

I'll try rearranging the cabling or check Bios.

And yes, I thought that too about seatools, but it seems that Samsung has some partnership with seagate. Samsung website directs me to seagate's website from their HDD section.

Might also be worth having a look at this post.

Especially the section on Bus mastering Ultra DMA mode.

If you find the solution, please let us know. It is always interesting to find our the cause of these issues.
