Updating firmware on usb3 loopback plug - already at version 1.7

In trying to look at updating the firmware for the USB3.0 LOOPBACK plug, it has 2 versions of FW UPDATER to choose from.
My current USB3 PLUG has the following information:

USB3 TEST PLUG
Current FW VERSION - 1.7
MODEL - PMUSB03 REV 1.0
ORANGE LED - POWER
GREEN LED - TX
YELLOW LED - RX
RED LED - ERROR

2 VERSIONS OF FW UPDATER:

USB3FWupdater_2.0.zip
USB3FWupdater_1.7.zip

When I try to update the firmware, both updaters fail??? They say to unplug and plug device back in - PROGRAMMING FAILS.
I can see the necessary files - CyBootProgrammer.img, mfw.img, and usb30test.img are in the same directory.

What am I doing wrong??? We are on a PC that is WINDOWS7 PC.

Using the current FW version I have now (VERSION 1.7), I can run the following USB3.0 LOOPBACK TEST APPLICATIONS:

TEST_APP_VER_1p7_or_earlier - this APP seems to work fine for testing.
TEST_APP_VER_2p0_or_later - this APP tells me to update the FIRMWARE.

Can someone help me????

I am having trouble updating the firmware in my USB3.0LOOPBACK PLUG.

My current plug information
MODEL - PMUSB03 (rev 1)
CURRENT FIRMWARE - VERSION 1.7

I want to update the firmware in this plug.

1.) Can I update to version 2.0 Firmware???
2.) If I can, both USB3FWUpdater_1.7.zip and USB3FWupdater_2.0.zip do not work. THey say the USB plug is in the wrong mode - mode I am seeing - voltage 5.03V, Speed 480Mb/s

I want to run the latest USB3.0 LOOPBACK application and this older firmware wont' work with the newer application.

PLEASE GIVE SOME GUIDANCE????

Have you deleted the current firmware before programming the newest USB3.0 plug firmware? In order to put the plug in programming mode, the old firmware should be deleted firstly.
Do you see this issue with other machines? Please try another machine for programming (preferably a desktop machine) . Firmware updater forces the plug to high-speed mode for programming, so there might be an issue with USB 2 lines of the port or with host controller driver.
Are you using the USB cable that comes with the plug?
What driver version is installed on your machine?
Can you check to see if BIOS and Host controller driver are up-to-date?
