  • New Computer Build

I am looking for a workstation/gaming PC with video editing capabilities. If you see that there is anything I could change or downgrade/upgrade for better performance for the money please let me know at your earliest convenience.

I went with a z170/6700k build rather than a x99/6800k build for more core performance.

Here are all the individual Links as well:
    Corsair Stryker Case - White - 165$
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 - 409$
    Corsair RMx 850W Power Supply - 129$
    Corsair Vengeance 32GB Memory DDR4 3000 - 169$
    Corsair H100i Water CPU Cooler - 105$
    Samsung 850 EVO 256gb SSD - 100$
    Intel 6700k Skylake CPU - 339$
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HERO Motherboard - 200$
    Samsung 950 PRO M.2 256GB - 188$

    Total Cost w/Shipping: 1,782$

Just about every component could be upgraded for better performance or capacity. But additional spending will result in diminishing returns
So it really depends on what your budget is.

I'm just trying to get the best parts for the money. For instance, I could get a 1080 but for 37% (240$) increase in cost a 7.5% performance increase is not worth it to me. I also have like 4 other SSD's in my current computer which I will probably end up using some of them on this machine. But any suggestions that you may have would be appreciated. I was trying to stay under 2k but I don't really have a "budget".

My advice would be to spend the "extra" cash on a good monitor (or dual monitors for video editing).

Then as you say the next logical upgrade would be the video card. Or a bigger hard drive if you need the capacity. Or mirrored RAID drives if you need reliability for your work. Or an external drive for backups.
