  • Graphic Design Workstation Help

Graphic Design Workstation running slow after increase to 4 x 8 GB RAM (32GB).
Alternate site suggested to swap out old Quadro K2000 for GeForce GTX 1060 SC 6Gb.
Attempted to contact ASUS to make sure the 1060 would be compatible with motherboard - I was referred back to the "compatibility" PDF which does not list the 1060. I imagine that the PDF may be out of date.

I'd appreciate any suggestions. This workstation is used for Graphic Design, no games.

    Thanks!

1060 should work fine with the motherboard and CPU.

But you need to check the power supply. The K2000 only used 50W, while the 1060 is 120W.
Extra power usage also means more heat so check the fans are adequate

Not sure if you already have a SSD, but it can make a big difference to the feel of a machine.

Thanks, David. I've got a SEASONIC, X-850 850W Power Supply w/ Modular Cables, 80 PLUSŪ Gold - so, I think that should be sufficient enough.

        850W will be plenty.
