  • Audio and Freezing Issues

I built a new computer and while gaming there are random and frequent freezing issues, it will freeze for just a few seconds then resume. Also audio while gaming and listening to music in Windows Media Player fades for a few seconds, then comes back in. Can't find a solution anywhere. My specs are:

    Gigabyte Motherboard: GA-X58-USB3
    CPU: Intel i7 960 @ 3.20 GHz
    Ram: 24 GB
Video Card: 2 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti cards in SLI
OS: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Service Pack 1

Also to note CPU and Video Cards are not overclocked and are at factory defaults. Have a Corsair TX850 Power Supply. System is well cooled, have enough mounted fans nothing is overheating. I also don't have a sound card, but have Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. Also no issue with any kind of antivirus software cause none is installed since I don't connect to the net on the rig. Like I said can't find any solution anywhere and its starting to get really annoying. Any and every suggestion would be more than appreciated!!!

My guess would be that there is some system level activity that is doing some slow I/O.
e.g. something trying to access the network (which isn't connected).

Check task manager to see if there is high CPU load during the freeze from a particular process, or a background task using way too much RAM and forcing a swap to disk. Also use Resource Monitot to check tasks trying to access the network.

Also, try dropping SLI for while.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I tried checking the Resource Monitor and task manager. Didn't see any kind of processes for the Network Tab. However with CPU and such did see some processes, unfortunately when it comes to stuff like this I'm very ignorant on what processes exactly are safe to terminate, and what ones will completely mess up a system. I've actually had SLI disabled for some time now, and have got the same result either way. To tell you the truth I added the second card later on, when I first built the rig I only had one card. Didn't go SLI until a few months later. I've never updated the BIOS on the Motherboard, I'm wondering if maybe I should try that and see if maybe their are some drivers for the board as well. I've tried a few drivers for the Video Cards before and that never did anything so I don't know.

I'm not a professional, but you may try Microsoft fix it center, also update windows and all the other
drivers, and you may even try dll files fixer. Well that's all in my knowledge, hope it helps
