  • what to buy advice

I am currently running two gtx 460 in sli, an Intel i5 2500k and a standard hard drive. I have about $300-350 to spend and I am trying to decide between a new processor upgrading my video cards to a single more powerful one (probably a 660 ti) or an ssd. And suggestions on what path to choose? I do a Lot of gaming and am currently worried I am generating too much heat.
    Thanks for any help

    I would take the SSD.

You might gain 20% more from a new CPU.
But a SSD will be 500% faster than a normal hard drive, plus you'll have some change from your $350.

to get the most out of an SSD I would need to have all my games installed on the drive and all of the OS or just the cache?

The disk cache is held in RAM. It isn't stored on a disk.

It makes sense to put anything that is commonly used on the SSD, if it fits.

It doesn't make sense to put uncommonly used application on the SSD.
It also doesn't make sense to put performance insensitive files on the SSD. e.g. mp3 files, or video files. (you never need to playback your MP3 music five times as fast as normal).
