  • Best compatible Processor to replace my Toshiba AMD Turion X2 RM-70

    Hello all...

I am trying to upgrade my Toshiba Satellite L305D laptop, but after many searches on the web, I am not able to determine what is the fastest processor it can handle.

    Can anyone offer any ideas?

Thanks VERY much for your help!

Upgrading CPUs in laptops is often problematic.

    • Some laptops have CPUs that aren't in a socket. So they effectively can't be replaced.
    • You will surely void the warranty on the machine.
    • You need to consider the power usage and heat output of the new CPU. Laptops are often designed to be right on the limit of both.
    • The BIOS might or might not support newer CPUs.
    • Laptops are generally pretty painful to disassemble and re-assemble down to the motherboard level.

So I would only attempt an upgrade if you can find someone who has done the same upgrade on the same machine (or have money and time to burn, but in this case a whole new PC might be a better option).
