  • Comparison web site for LED lighting

Over the last 6 months we have been working on a new web site to compare the features and performance of LED lighting.

The site can be found here,
    http://www.ledbenchmark.com/

At the moment there are a lot of false LED performance claims being made without anyone holding the distributors and manufacturers to account. Hopefully this site will provide some additional information to enable a more informed decision to be made.

The measurements we are taking include,
    • Light output with a goniophotometer, measured in Lumens.
    • Spectrum with a CCD Spectrometer (from which the light colour is derived)
    • Wattage actually used
    • Temperature when in use, from a thermal camera. Overheating being one of the main reasons LED lights fail.
    • Light distribution. How broad or narrow the beam is for down lights .
    • Dimming performance. Flickering being a major problem of LED lights.
    • Power factor

In order to get as many globes on the site as possible in the shortest amount of time, we are offering free testing of any LED globes. If you ship us an example globe we'll test it publish the results and then ship the globe back to you if you want (within Australia). Pretty much any type of interior LED light is OK. (MR16, GU10, Bayonet, Edison, or even complete LED kits).

Looks like nice site. Surely led light is future of lighting industry and we need such sites to make them popular all over the world. Nice work
