  • Gaming computer build

My son and I are looking to build a gaming computer. Cost is a secondary concern, but the first concern would be the quality. We have been using the benchmarks to narrow down components vs price. The biggest problem is knowing if the components will function at peak performance with the items that we are choosing. How do we know if we are heading in the right direction?
    CPU: I7 4770K 3.5 GHZ
    Video: GEForce GTX 760
HD: Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
    MB: Intel Desktop Motherboard LGA 1155 DDR3 1600 ATX - BOXDH77KC

All suggestions welcome, first time builder!

Unless you are overclocking get the slightly cheaper i7 4770 CPU.

In my opinion a SSD hard drive is now mandatory on new machines unless you are super sensitive to price (Intel, Samsung, Sandisk and others make good SSDs).

The Intel i7 4770 needs a LGA 1150 motherboard (not a 1155). So make sure you get a compatible motherboard.
