Possibly selecting an invalid combination of tests

I am doing some testing of a new PC - a Lenovo P53. I am specifically interested in ensuring that its temperature profile under graphics load remains stable as the prior machine has turned out to be a lemon in that regard. My test were CPU, GPGPU and 3D Graphics. I inadvertently selected RAM test as well and was surprised to see that it sent the temps through the roof (100C +) . I can accept that this is probably the wrong thing to do ( and I did not really mean to do it, but just let it run) - but was wondering if any performance/hardware expert might be able to explain why adding the RAM test would stress the CPU so much?

There should be no problem running the RAM test.

The explanation is obvious. High end parts, with high wattage, stuffed into a tiny box with inadequate cooling.
I don't know the exact wattage they have set it up for, but CPU might hit 50W and GPU might be 100W+, plus a ton of RAM and SSDs, etc...
You really need to desktop sized box with 4 x 12cm fans to cool it all.
