How reliable are passmark benchmarks?

The results are as reliable as the data. The more submissions for a particular component the better the reliability. You can see the number of samples included in the score by expanding the drop down on the chart page or by going to the component model page itself.
Once enough data is collected (as is currently the case for the majority of CPUs on the market) then the benchmark provides a good reflection of the overall processing power of the CPU. But of course everyone's needs are different (gaming, web servers, graphic design, file servers, etc..) and you need to take into account your own needs when looking at the benchmark numbers.
