  • What's the difference between Passmarks and BenchMarks ?

I keep seeing these mentioned on this site and I'm a bit confused ! I am trying to find the best cpu I can afford but sometimes passmarks are used and other times Benchmarks?

    Thanks

    PassMark is the company name.

We develop benchmark software called PerformanceTest. It used to benchmark your computers performance. (We also develop other hardware and software as well).

After PerformanceTest runs it generates a "Passmark rating" number, which reflects the overall performance of your computer. It also generates a bunch of other numbers for each component in your computer, like a CPUMark, 3DMark, Diskmark, etc...

The general industry term for any form of speed measurement is benchmarking.

If you are just interested in a CPU, the you should be looking at the Single threaded benchmark results and the CPUMark results.
