I just spent a good bit of the past three days looking for the last
(hence final) 32-bit version of osfmount. I’ve combed old free software version sites, all of the major free software distributors
(filehippo, cnet, majorgeeks, etc) looking for it without success.
I’ve also dared to tread into the murkier fringe and dangerous
edges of the net looking for it (various chinese, middle eastern &
dodgier regions in desperation and not caring what malware or
ransomware I might subject myself to.
It boggles my mind (I will admit, it infuriates me well) that you showcase release notes for past versions that you no longer seem to offer as downloads nor can they be downloaded elsewhere it
seems.
I’m not one of those diehard oldtechs who refuse to move along to
something more stable and secure, it just happened that I was working on something on a older machine that had a 32-bit install
of Windows 7 on it. It could definitely run Windows 10 64-bit but it was specced to run Windows 7 so that’s what I installed on it. I
wasn’t planning on using it for anything more than this one project.
I needed to use your osfmount app as it was suggested as a solution to the project I was working on. Days later I’m still
stuck on what I assumed would be the easiest part of the effort:
downloading a sub 20 mb software from the developer’s website as to
avoid any malwares or altered code and to be sure I’d gotten the
latest version available and was fully apprised to all of its
particulars.
I know you probably have reasons in-addition to hosting bandwidth constraints as to why you’re not offering the older versions for
download (If not I’m sure archive.org wouldn’t balk at having all
your older versions, they have petabytes of obsolete softwares
being hosted!).
But by all that is holy and right in softwaredom, AT LEAST OFFER
UP THE FINAL 32-BIT RELEASE AS AN OPTIONAL DOWNLOAD!!
(INCOHERANT SOUNDS OF ANGUISH AND ANGHST AT THE HOURS OF MY LIFE I’VE LOST IN SEARCHING AND TYPING THIS POST WHICH WILL PROBABLY NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BE POSTED!)
If you point out some obvious link to the older versions (Scratch that. If I didn’t find/see it at this point it wasn’t obvious atl) I’ll
probably burst into sobs at my keyboard.
Okay, I was joking some there, fruitless searching needs its outlet.
If you’ve to this point, I’m not sorry at all for you having lost time
for the effort. *g*
