  • Errors Found - help understanding what they mean

    Hi everyone,

I have been getting BSOD on my Win7 machine when using Unreal Engine 4.15. I updated UE4 to the latest version about 3 weeks ago and updated my Nvidia drivers as well. Im getting BSOD every time I use UE4 and ONLY when using UE4. Every other program seems to run perfectly fine (including video games that run on Unreal!).

I used Memtest to look at my RAM and found these errors:

    Test 13 [Hammer test] Warning
Note: Your RAM may be vulnerable to high frequency row hammer bit flips. However the conditions needed to induce these errors occur only very rarely in normal PC usage, and so this should not be of concern to most users.

Does this mean my RAM is broken beyond repair? Do I need to replace all my RAM? Is there a way to fix this issue? How come I only crash when using Unreal and nothing else?

Thank you in advance for any help I can get with this!

Yes, it looks like bad RAM.
Sometimes lower the clock rate or increasing voltage levels can hide the problem, but it can't be fixed.
Probably only 1 stick is bad. Try testing one stick at a time.

Memory corruption won't always cause a crash. Sometimes the bad bit (as you have a single bit error) of RAM won't be used by the software and sometimes corruption occurs in parts of memory that aren't used for anything critical. e.g. display buffers.

      Thanks for the help David!

I tried looking everywhere on the software but I couldnt find a way to test 1 stick at a time - do I have to physically remove one and test or is there a setting that Im missing?

      Thanks!
