  • Determining the offending RAM stick

    Hi,

I used memtest many many years to diagnose an error with some RAM. I've noticed it has gone through many updates since then and the interface looks great.

My question is - Do I still need to use 'the process of elimination' to determining the faulty RAM stick? Or can the software tell me which slot/piece of RAM caused the error?

    Thanks

There are too many permutations of slots, dual, tri & quad channel (interleaving), CPUs & RAM sticks to correctly identify the bad stick. (Also Intel keep the algorithm for mapping addresses to sticks secret, and it is different for different CPUs).
