  • Issue with test 10 on a 2014 27" 5K iMac

    Hi,

I just replaced a 2014 5K iMac, the old one constantly failed Memtest86 test 10 with thousands of errors.
This iMac has different RAM and fails the exact same tests.

    Memtest version 7.5
I am assuming the test doesn't work reliably on this model iMac but could something else be going on?

it looks to be the same issues as this post
    https://www.passmark.com/forum/memte...e-2013-27-imac
    and this post
    https://www.passmark.com/forum/memte...ure-on-test-10

Particular Mac UEFI boot ROMS have bugs in them. See above.posts.
We reported the issue to Apple, but they never replied. Seems they don't care.

      Thanks David, very informative.
So for any Mac late 2017 or newer just disable test 10 and 13 and it should still make an overall thorough and reliable test? (hammer test still ok?)

Seems to only effect low address ranges, so just avoid testing the 1st 1MB should be enough. We are planning on black listing the Mac in the next release.

Oh wow, no more Mac support at all? That's a bummer. Should probably mention that on the downloads and purchase page so Mac users don't waste the cash. I hope it's not permanent.

No, we will be just excluding some RAM from being tested on Macs.

Glad that was a misunderstanding, would hate to go without memtest
