  • Memtest86 v7.5 Free - Report is empty (size: 0 bytes)

    Hello

My iMac (32 GB of RAM) has Kernel Panics and system freezes and restarts at least two (2) times a day, even after fresh install of Mac OS High Sierra, hence I am suspecting RAM issues.

I am using MemTest86 V7.5 Free version, on a USB 3.0 Flash Stick (Patriot Rage - Super Sonic 128 GB), formated as FAT16 (EFI Bootable) on an iMac 27 Retina (late 2014), after the tests are done MemTest gives an option to store the report, however the reports created are always empty with size of zero (0) bytes. The MemTest86.log however contains some logging data for the test.

It is also very strange that all four memory sticks (PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz- 8 GB) that I have in my iMac (each tested separately) get exactly 1026 errors in Test 10 (Bit Fade Test), other tests runs fine, however there is occasional freeze of MemTest86 in the Test 13 (Hammer Test).

What is causing these two issues?

Due to upload size limitations (146.5 KB), I shared MemTest86.log on my Dropbox instead:

    Thanks

Errors at low memory addresses in Test #10 is a known Mac firmware bug.

    See,

Thanks David, I visited all those links and I am aware of the Firmware Bug. Meanwhile is a there a temporary workaround for this issue in my case? (I really need to test my RAM due to constant kernel panics), I wont believe Apple would fix anything by the way.
If I have to limit the memory testing to a specific address range and exclude certain addresses, could you please let me know of the exact range I should be excluding (I've provided both the log and screenshoot). Also could you please confirm if the mentioned firmware bug affects both Test #10 and #Test 13 (my system freezes occasionally when performing #13). Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.

Exclude all address below 1MB from testing (0xFFFFF).
