  • Failure in test 5

After installing a new GPU (went from a Zotac 970 to an MSI 1080) I experienced a BSOD whilst gaming with an oculus rift.
the BSOD was "IRQL not less or equal to..."

    MOBO: Z170-E.
    CPU: I5 6500
    RAM: VENGEANCE LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000 MHz
    GPU: MSI 1080 8GB

I then ran memtest and had a single failure: [MEM ERROR - Data] Test: 5, CPU: 1, Address: 2E37ED364, Expected: A173ACD9, Actual: A1F3ACD9

The full logfile is attached, this only happened during pass 3 of 4.

    Any ideas?

RAM errors are typically due do bad RAM.
Small chance it might have been a random non-reproducible 'soft' error. You could do a few additional runs to be sure.

I'll do a couple of extra runs. I only experienced this issue after the new GPU was installed, so I was semi hoping it was related to that somehow.

Right after the BSOD it also gave a message "OC failure", when nothing I'm running is OC'ed... But probably the RAM itself then.
