MemTest for ESXi hosts

Hello guys, I would like to ask you, if it's possible run the MemTest without OS? In system requirments is written down this:

• Windows, Linux, or Mac OS

Will I really need an OS on the server, which I want test or not?
I woul like to use it from Win servers and also for ESXi hosts..Could I run the MemTest from ISO from iLO console. Is it possible like that?

MemTest86 doesn't use an operating system, not for running the actual tests.

You do need an O/S the initial download and installing the software to a USB drive however.

We use MemTest86 all the time in virtual machines for testing. It needs to be a modern VM with UEFI support however. (we don't use ESXi however, but it should work)

However where possible it does make more sense to test the physical host machine. The less other stuff that is running, the more RAM you have available for testing.

Of course, I want to test physical hosts, hot the VMs..
