  • Testing HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 fails badly

    Hi there,

I've been testing 96 GB memory of three new HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 server blades. All three blades crash badly during the test. I'm using the current memtest 4.2.0.

IML logs shows this after the crash:

System Error 03/06/2013 17:36 03/06/2013 17:36 1 Unrecoverable System Error (NMI) has occurred. System Firmware will log additional details in a separate IML entry if possible
    PCI Bus 03/06/2013 17:36 03/06/2013 17:36 1 Uncorrectable PCI Express Error (Embedded device, Bus 0, Device 0, Function 0, Error status 0x00100000)

memtest86+ 4.20 does not show the same behaviour. Two servers did pass 14 complete rounds of tests without any issues. Only if I use the "new" memtest86 from the passmark site, these servers crash, too.

Server ROM version is I31 03/01/2013.
    Part Number 641016-B21
System Board Spare Part Number 654609-001

    Try single threaded. MemTest86+ doesn't do multi-threading.
